Venerate, Unscrupulous, Insular
Venerate- regard with great respect; revere
Ex: Messi is venerated in the footballing world for his achievements. I’ve seen many a man utterly lose his cool and start fangirling out in his presence. “Messi! Messi! OH MY GOD! Messi! Messi! Take my daughter’s hand in marriage! Or stone her if you want! It’s up to you, Messi!”
Unscrupulous- having no morals or ethics; shamelessly dishonest
Ex: The unscrupulous referee accepted a bribe that led to his biased game-calling. It wasn’t money that he was after, but rather lewd sexual favors. He had had his eye on the young, promising left back for quite some time now. One aptly timed penalty awarded to the team, and Marcos would be split open like a coconut later that night in the Favelas.
Insular- uninterested in other cultures, isolated and disconnected
Ex: Stephanie has an insular view of the world, dismissive of all other cultures. She forewent the school trip to Japan and sat at her Trenton, New Jersey home eating frozen chicken tenders while her classmates were treated to an extravagant omakase meal at the foot of Mount Fuji. Stephanie thought that she may take a trip to Sherwin Williams later that day to shuffle through all the taupe paint options. “Too brown” “Too gray” “Ah, perfectly brown-gray. This will provide a perfect backdrop for all of my Friends posters.”
