Tortuous, Bucolic, Untenable
Tortuous- winding; full of twists
Ex: The passengers were feeling uneasy about the journey up the tortuous road which wrapped around the mountainside. Their fears were only compounded as their driver took a swig of a gold Four Loko can and told them to, “strap in, folks!”.
Bucolic- relating to pleasant country life
Ex: The bucolic views of the pastoral farms and rolling green hills of the English countryside lay in direct opposition to what was supposed by their town’s names, among which were, Papplewick, Wetwang, Bishop’s Ichington, Mudford Sock, and of course, Bitchfield.
Untenable- not able to be maintained while under criticism
Ex: Advocating on behalf of her own baking abilities proved to be an untenable task. Last Winter at a dinner party she had baked a black forest cake that she thought would surely win over the supper guests. The reaction the cake received was, let’s just say, not so good. Cousin Bill took one bite, spat it out with great disgust, and remarked that, “Whoever made that cake, please point me in the direction of your parents, so I can reprimand them for ever having conceived a devil child capable of producing such a fucking insipid, rancid, piss-poor excuse for a baked good.” Upon hearing this, she sought refuge in the kitchen and buried her weeping face in a pillowy yellow sheet cake that soaked up her tears and sprung back into its original form when she eventually removed her head. This was surely some cruel joke that the world was playing on her.
