Supercilious
Supercilious- behaving or looking as though one thinks one is superior to others; arrogant
Ex: The supercilious triple crown winning jockey looked down upon the spectators from a lofty perch atop his majestic thoroughbred Dos-Equistrian: The Most Interesting Horse in the World. He felt on top of the world when he was on that horse. He felt as if he could snap his fingers and end up back at home with any one of those floppy-hatted, frilly-dressed broads that swarmed the derby like a muster of peacocks, flaunting their plumage with hopes of transfixing some Landon or Clayton or Boone with a family plantation and a “tool shed” in the backyard that they claimed nobody had ever been forced to live in against their will but mysteriously contained bunk beds, a hole in the floor, and some old, rusty shackles in a pile in the corner. But that was when he was on the horse. As he stepped back down into the stirrups and then returned to earth, so did his ego. Standing there horseless, all five feet and three inches of him, he felt like a schoolboy again. Two chicks even offered for him to come back to their penthouse in Louisville but he declined, mumbling something about having to scrub horseshoes with a toothbrush. Forlorn, he returned to the horse stable and pulled up a step-stool behind Dos Equistrian. “I am nothing without you” he whispered into the beasts’ ear. On the second step of the stool, he was perfectly aligned for entry.
