Prevaricate- to speak or act in an elusive, roundabout manner intended to deceive others

Ex: When confronted about the virus spreading throughout the public library’s computer system, Tristan had no choice but to prevaricate, although he may have accidentally revealed that he knew a little more than he led on. “Oh yea, the virus, I heard about that, but I’m not quite sure how it started. What I do know is that this particular virus is not typically a result of watching Hentai, which I, for one, would never dream of doing! Especially not at a renowned cultural institution such as this. Now me? I’m more of a book guy myself, I don’t really ever come here to use the computers. Do I find myself getting a little randy sometimes when reading a Murakami novel? Perhaps!... Oh, what was that? You want to know what I meant by that last sentence? Well, you see, that was merely an illustration of my feelings, I would never act on them, no, not in a million years!
