I’m back from Summer Vacation, and I wrote a Sonnet about it!
Sonnet- a rhyming poem of fourteen lines that reflects upon a single issue or idea
Ex:
I think by now we can all agree that Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” is the song of the Summer. But what about the sonnet of the Summer? I haven’t seen anyone claiming to have written that yet, so I guess this Filthy Easy Summer Sonnet is the winner by default:
Picking sand and lint out of a cavernous inny belly button
All those Michelob Ultra’s couldn’t slim me down for nothing
So the swim shirt stays on at my above ground backyard pool
Eat a burger within thirty minutes of swimming? I wouldn’t be such a fool
Floaties and noodles keep my paunch above water
With my mortgage and lay-off I’m barely afloat
But one mustn’t be stressing when the weather gets hotter
Unless the neighbors come over, then I’m building a moat
Sparklers and fireworks upset my dog
And give Saigon flashbacks to my uncle Rob
But time heals most wounds, and so does a freeze pop
That comes in a red fishnet bag, like a Miami Beach thot
Vacation is over, I’m red like a lobster
Aloe Vera on sale at CVS, I shell out three dollars.
I’m pregnant.
Who needs Bill Shakespeare with a sonnet like this? Nobody. It's nice to have your good self back and posting.
