Solipsism- the quality of being extremely self-centered, egocentric

Ex: Nick’s solipsism was illuminated by the falling of his beloved maple tree on his neighbor’s home, resulting in their grandmother’s paralysis and hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. Nick rushed over to the scene of the accident and furiously dug through layers of collapsed sheet rock and brick. He heard the muffled screams of pain from somewhere under the rubble, so he kept digging until he exposed… the tree, which he caressed lovingly and yelled out, “MY MAPLE TREE!!! NOOO!!!!! There goes all my maple syrup for the season! Gone, just like that! Looks like the groundhog saw his shadow and we’re stuck with 6 more months of fucking Aunt Jemima!”

Travesty- a mockery; a false representation of something

Ex: That Broadway staging of Seinfeld is an absolute travesty. I almost got up and left when the character playing Jerry started launching into one of his classic, “What’s the deal with so and so” bits, except in the form of an opera song involving a heinous number of Nutcracker inspired pirouettes. I will admit when Newman burst into the scene wearing a tutu and stuck the long high note on, “JERRRYYYYYY” I was almost drawn back in, almost.
