Shrewd, Dogma, Candor
Shrewd- having or showing acute awareness; clever keenness
Ex: The shrewd businessman made calculated decisions with his stock positions. While his beta soy-boy neighbor lost all the money he had set aside for his daughter’s college tuition, the gigachad businessman quadrupled his investment. He then had a gold-framed “Have fun at community college!” poster sent to the neighbor’s front door. He was quite a cheeky prick, that businessman.
Dogma- an incontrovertible tenet; something established as true
Ex: The prevailing dogma is that placing dumps next to residential neighborhoods is an inexcusable offense. Unless, of course, those neighborhoods are primarily filled with immigrants and/or people of color. Then, of course, the accepted dogma is that as long as the garbage won’t stink up the country club on the edge of town, it looks like little Abbas is going to grow up with a 10x greater likelihood of developing lung cancer!
Candor- honest and sincere; without reservations
Ex: Daryl’s speech had a great deal of candor, which was met with mixed reviews by the audience. His searing criticism of those “fat fucking cows with their bi-weekly binges at the community center” caused a few in the crowd to stand and applaud loudly. The Mothers-Against-Drunk-Driving-Who-Also-Enjoy-Cake-And-A-Couple-Members-Have-Lost-Feet-Due-To-Diabetes were less thrilled with his frankness.
