Sartorial, Jocular
Sartorial- relating to clothes, tailoring, or style
Ex: Okay, now what’s the first thing you think of when you think of a coal miner? Let’s all say it on the count of three. One. Two. Three. “The sartorial workmanship of their cargo pants!” Wait, what did you guys say? The treacherous work conditions? Claustrophobia? The soot covering their faces? Wrong, wrong, and potentially racist, but also wrong. Any coal miner knows the importance of dressing in a nicely hemmed pair of slacks. It may be pitch dark down there, but it’s more for their personal sense of pride. They want to look and feel good when they’re down their sucking in that dust and contracting black lung.
Jocular- witty, intended to make someone laugh
Ex: There’s nothing more painful than hearing the Yankees’ broadcast team try to spice up their commentary with jocular remarks. Michael Kay and Suzyn Waldman are about as funny as a frail widowed elderly woman tripping over a box of Wheaties and laying there, immobile, without a life alert device with which to call for help.
