Nonplussed, Expostulations, Acquiescence
Nonplussed- surprised and bewildered in a way that makes one lose composure
Ex: The naked crackhead sprinting down the aisles of the super Walmart singing a remarkably accurate cover of Hoobastank’s “The Reason” left the other shoppers nonplussed.
Expostulations- expressions of strong disagreement
Ex: The son left to go to the underage drinking party despite his parents’ expostulations. What did those old fogeys know anyways?
Acquiescence- the passive or reluctant acceptance of something
Ex: In a show of acquiescence, he walked to the bench, knowing he would not start the game. He had learned years ago that his slight 5’3 build and nebbishy Jewish ancestry was not conducive to athletic prowess.
