Magnanimous, Deference, Obloquies
Magnanimous- being generous towards an enemy; showing nobility in victory
Ex: The magnanimous general allowed the captured enemy troops to keep their genitalia uncastrated. Now I know this may not sound very respectable, but it was remarkably progressive for the time period.
Deference- respect for another person and their influence or authority
Ex: The low-level hibachi chef bowed in deference to his master, Haruto Nakayama, who was revered for his ability to stack an onion volcano almost to the height of the extractor fan. He also had extremely precise marksmanship with the sake squirter, which earned him the nickname “Type 97”. He had a silhouette of the gun stitched into his chef’s jacket.
Obloquies- harsh insults; public criticisms
Ex: As the latest “me-too” perpetrator was met with a flurry of obloquies from the general public, his cave-dwelling 4-chan “stans” gave one another the signal, cracked their knuckles, and began furiously typing out long-winded explanations as to why this particular case of sexual assault wasn’t that bad. Next on their agenda was a support group meeting where they discussed, ironically, their recent struggles with making consensual physical advances on the opposite gender.
