Knell, Evince
Knell- the sound of a bell rung slowly, usually indicating a solemn event
Ex: The knell of the church bells rang out in the courtyard. The small and scattered crowd stood outside near the grave as the pastor took the stand to say a few words. “We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of a man…I would say a great man, but I don’t think the lord would appreciate me labeling him as such, so…yes, Adam was a man. Just looking around at all three of your blank, expressionless stares, I can confidently say that Adam did not accomplish much on this earth, and his presence will probably not be missed. They usually have me recall a fond memory I have of the recently deceased, but the only interaction I ever had with the man was yanking my niece away from him when he told her she could pull out his dead tooth to get a good look at it up close. Why don’t you say we just put some dirt on this guy and call it for the day? There’s a Joel Osteen marathon on in half an hour and me and the guys from the parish were going to rail some nose beers and down a couple Nazareth Lites, if anyone would like to join.”
Evince- to provide evidence of something; to indicate
Ex: As evinced by his half-Windsor knotted tie with a rubber ducky pattern and his baggy gray sports coat, he is definitely about to try to sell you a used 2007 Saturn Aura with milkshake stains in the carpet and a cigarette stench deeply ingrained in the very fiber of the car’s being that could only have been produced by 12 years of ripping Newport’s with the windows rolled up.
