Introduction + Aver, Adumbrate, Insouciant
Hi Readers,
Welcome to the Filthy Easy Vocab newsletter. For a couple minutes every day you can come here to learn, to laugh, to shirk work responsibilities, (we won’t judge, hell- that’s what I’m doing right now!) and to inject some creativity into your morning routine.
For these first few days, the words and their examples will have come directly from the already published:
The Filthy Easy Guide to Vocab: Volume 1
But, soon enough, I’ll have plenty of fresh new words to fill up your brain with. For now, have fun with these first three.
Aver- to state or prove as true
Ex: She averred that he had a micropenis.
Adumbrate- to foreshadow
Ex: The Oaxacan mural of a sadistic, blood-hungry female emperor with short, blonde hair and piercing blue eyes adumbrated the cruel behavior of Ellen Degeneres towards her staff at The Ellen Degeneres Show many centuries later.
Insouciant- carefree, showing a lack of concern
Ex: The insouciant man-child played Xbox and ate Doritos while the world crumbled outside of his basement. Had he been in London during The Blitz, he might have been so unaware of the bombings as to confuse the explosions for mechanical issues with appliances in the Kitchen upstairs. “Hmph, the dishwasher has been making those loud booming sounds for a couple months now. Maybe someone should check on that.”
