“Militias in the Congo destroying a village”- Intergalactic Battle style
Internecine- marked by mutually destructive conflict or slaughter
Ex: The internecine violence between the warring factions of the Congo made it difficult for the Jefferson family to relax on their summer vacation. Mr. Jefferson told his family that he had picked the dense rainforest locale for its array of diverse wildlife, but in reality he had just been trying to be economical. An Airbnb listing for $10 a night promising “spectacular river views”, “firm banana leaf mattresses”, and “probably no child soldiers in the area” had caught his eye, and he put down a deposit before his wife could even say, “isn’t that where 2500 civilians were killed between January and October of last year?”.
The first day of their trip was spectacular. They took a raft ride down the river to a monkey sanctuary where they dined on a Muamba Nsusu stew plated inside hollowed out coconuts with some friendly-enough locals. On the morning of the second day, a neighboring militia from the Ituri province rolled through the dirt street of their village and laid waste to most of the neighboring houses. The Jefferson family watched in horror from their window as women and children were paraded around the street and then executed firing-squad style. By some miracle, their Airbnb was not targeted.
On the third day of their trip, Mr. Jefferson had had enough. “I’m leaving a bad review on this Airbnb!” he announced to his family. “Dad, we need to get out of here right now” said his daughter. “What, and miss the fishing trip that I booked? No way!” replied Mr. Jefferson.
His daughter pointed out the window towards a decaying man in jean shorts contorted into the same shape Peter Griffin assumed whenever he fell down the stairs in Family Guy. Flies were buzzing around him and a wild dog was picking at some meat around his rib cage.
“How are we meant to go fishing? That’s our guide Mofubaku right there!”
“They warned me about this on Groupon.”
“They warned you about this!?!?”
