Indolent- lazy

Ex: I was feeling much too indolent to partake in this year’s turkey trot. I’ll leave that activity up to the matching flannel pajamas on Christmas type families. To the families that have a secret snack drawer where they stash their good & plenty and unsulfured dried apricots.  To the it’s never quite stated outright but you get the sense that you’d be better off not bringing a partner of a different race to the family party type families.

Abstruse- obscure, difficult to understand

Ex: She was always chiming in with abstruse political takes that attempted to analogize foreign conflicts to the struggles between the vegetables and the monkeys in the VeggieTales: Minnesota Cuke and the Coconut Apes video game for the PC. So, let me get this straight: the pickles are really the colonizers? And they’re responsible for the subjugation and subsequent socioeconomic stranglehold placed on the Coconut Apes? Well when you put it that way I guess yes, the plight of the coconut apes really does share many parallels with the Uyghur Muslim situation in China, thanks Rhonda!

*He gives her a fake smile and then turns and nods at his butler. The butler pulls a lever which opens up the dining room floor from beneath her chair, sending her tumbling down a pitch-black aluminum chute*
