Abase- to degrade
Ex: The professor abased his new graduate student by sending him up to present in front of the lecture hall. Without any prior knowledge, the student was asked to present a PowerPoint that the professor had deviously assembled the night prior as a sort of cruel practical joke. Like most professors, his emotional intelligence was near zero, but his expertise in the niche subfield of experimental pegging that he had carved out for himself during his time at the university was top of the line.
The student walked up to the projector screen, took a deep breath, and prepared for the worst. But when the first slide popped up on the screen, his heart dropped in his chest. He read the words on the title slide, “Trauma Experiences of Widowed Babushkas in Kiev”. The presentation was not about pegging at all! He was ill-equipped to talk about such a serious subject matter. He was ill-equipped to talk about, well, just about anything other than pegging.
Stentorian- loud and powerful (of a person’s voice)
Ex: He stepped up onto the table and delivered a stentorian message to the customers of the mall food court. “Dear fellow diners, put down your forks, spoons, knives, sporks, fpoons, spives, and knorks and LISTEN TO ME! On Thursday, March 7th the mall movie theater, in conjunction with Little Tokyo Express, has agreed to offer ONE FREE MOVIE TICKET WITH THE PURCHASE OF ANY TERIYAKI ENTRÉE. But wait, there’s LESS. The movie ticket is only redeemable for a weekday matinee screening of any movie in which John Cena is playing anyone but himself! That’s right folks! If you loved freelance or Vacation Friends 2, then get on down to Little Tokyo Express on March 7th!
*John Cena’s WWE entrance theme starts playing over the loudspeakers.*
“THE TIME IS UP MY TIME IS NOW!”
*fireworks shoot out from Little Tokyo Express as a slight little Japanese chef starts making his way around the food court handing out chicken teriyaki samples*
