Flout- to openly disregard
Ex: The rule listed at most public swimming pools stating, “do not enter the pool if you have had diarrhea within the last two weeks” feels oddly restrictive. If you had diarrhea thirteen days ago, you’re probably going to flout that. And if you haven’t had diarrhea within the last two weeks? Then you need go grab a taco 12 pack and live más, my brother. You may burn bridges with the pool staff, but I say let those bridges burn. Make this into a real For Whom the Taco Bell Tolls type situation.
Forestall- to prevent or hinder by prior action or measures
Ex: Gerald was able to forestall cold numbness in his extremities by placing feet and hand warmers inside his boots and gloves. However, his silk cock sock did little to quell the whipping winds of Mount Washington, which felt as if an Inuit woman were using a walrus ivory harpoon to fish for halibut on the surface of his Jack Johnson.
I must admit to enjoying the occasional flout for sure.
