Fatuous, Mendacious

Fatuous- stupid; foolish

Ex: Geraldine had to bite her tongue in order to resist making any fatuous comments at the town zoning committee meeting. Last month she suggested that the town’s replica of Neverland Ranch could be situated on a hill only 100 yards up the road from Jerry Sandusky’s home.

Mendacious- untruthful; dishonest

Ex: I used to work as a counselor at a day camp for elementary school aged children where many of the campers would try to impress one another with mendacious tales about their families’ affluence. The typical outlandish claim fell somewhere along the lines of, “My family has a jumbo jet in our back yard that we fly all over the world in on the weekends”. Mason’s fibs were of a different nature, as he actually did get picked up from camp every day in a stretch limousine, but it wasn’t because his mom was “the bestest”, it was because she was sitting on her couch watching reruns of Sex and The City, and was too strung out on opioids to drive.
