Esperance, Conflation
Esperance- hope; the belief that things will turn out well
Ex: It was with a great deal of misguided esperance that Eugene believed he could save the family vacation. No amount of pirate-themed mini golf and banana splits could wash away the memory of unlocking the motel room door for the first time and pushing it open to reveal three identical twin size racecar beds with Danny DeVito themed bedding.
Conflation- combining to or more separate things together, usually erroneously
Ex: Sorry honey but I think you must have conflated my love of ties with my love of all things pickled. I could have accepted a tie with little dancing gherkins on it. Hell, I would have loved it. But this…what am I going to do with this? *He slowly raises up a soaking wet tie cautiously pinched between his thumb and index finger. What smells like apple cider vinegar is dripping off of the tie and forming a small brown pool on the bedroom floor*
