Epistolary- relating to a letter
Ex: The sending of Bar Mitzvah invitations in the mail frequently devolves into an epistolary battle between Jewish mothers who go to tremendous lengths to prove that their stationery is superior. I once received an invitation that, when opened, folded out into a three-dimensional model of the synagogue gathering hall, complete with a tiny paper cutout of the Bar Mitzvah boy having his first kiss with Rebecca in the corner behind the giant “Mazel Tov!” card.
Forbearance- a pause or reprieve in the enforcement of something that is due
Ex: With her recent student loan forbearance, Katy now had some extra cash with which to spend on the cheaply made chrome bangles hanging off the shelves near the checkout line at TJ Maxx. While there, she figured why not also splurge on some out of season Cadbury crème Easter eggs, a Sherlock Holmes themed board game, and some stale off-brand caramel corn called “Moose Knuckle Munch”
Who hasn’t made the same mistake as Katy. I once wondered home with two-for-one sticky tape and an out of date chocolate hedgehog. Lessons have been learnt. Another classic.
