Ex: “You’re displaying tremendous egoism right now, Bernice! Three Broadway shows in three days? You’ve hijacked this whole trip! What happened to the ESPN Zone? What happened to 200 flat screens, a Dave and Busters’ like arcade on the top floor, a foamy personal pitcher of miller lite, a plate of buffalo wings with the miniature chloroform rag to wipe the sticky sauce off my lips? But no, we couldn’t manage to fit that in between Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, and Spring Awakening now could we! Three straight nights of emotional torment. From forced prostitution, to unrequited love, to physical and sexual abuse! Can’t we just have one night of mindless fun? A night where I could perhaps whack a mole or two? A night where I don’t have to think about senseless violence? Where I can instead watch American football? A night where I can sleep easy after cheering on my two favorite running backs, Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice, and I don’t have to spend a single moment worrying about either one of them having committed any seriously troubling, downright despicable off-field acts?”
