Ex: Lawrence was chivied by his parents to apply for some merit based scholarships. Upon reading some of the scholarship descriptions, Lawrence became startlingly aware of his parent’s perceptions of him as a student and as a son. *Lawrence, scrolling on his computer and reading through the different scholarships* “The James V. Corcoran Surprisingly Adequate Student of the Year Award- presented to one mouth-breathing senior who sounds like an idiot in common conversation, but is actually a B- average student in mid-tier level courses. The Remedial Mathlete Award- given to a student who was sent down to remedial math in the Fall Semester, but boy-oh-boy did he/she bounce back quickly. The Randall Shingleton Body Positivity Award- awarded to one student who, despite glaring inadequacies in their “endowment”, was unafraid to get fully naked in the locker room when changing into proper gym attire. Seriously mom, what the fuck…”

Impecunious- penniless; broke (having no money)

Ex: The impecunious street mime sulked back to his rundown studio apartment, opened up his empty pantry, and retrieved a fake baguette and some invisible champagne. As he imitated the eating and drinking of his imaginary meal, he looked around the table at a litany of overdue bills, which were very much real.
