Cacophony- a harsh mixture of jarring sounds

Ex: The cacophony emanating from the band practice sessions in Brian’s garage was, quite literally, tearing the neighborhood apart. The band was attempting a punk rock reimagining of Toto’s “Africa”, and the searing chorus of, “GONNA TAKE A LOT TO DRAG ME AWAY FROM YOU!!!” was so revolting that it actually caused Brian’s next-door neighbors, Belinda and Tony, to put their house up for sale on the market almost as soon as they heard the line- which, it must be said- became a lot more distasteful and threatening when sung in the form of an emo scream.

Bruit- to spread about (as in a rumor)

Ex: Word of his eccentric break room behavior was bruited about the office, and it wasn’t difficult to see why. He had been observed microwaving individual almonds for exactly 5 seconds, removing them from the microwave, placing them in Tanya’s snack cubby, putting his mouth up real close to the almonds, not eating them, but rather whispering, “she will be mine” to the almonds, and then placing them in his back pocket. It wasn’t surprising that once Tanya got wind of this strange ritual she notified HR immediately. Her ex used to microwave his nuts to warm them up in the Winter, which eventually resulted in him fighting a devastating bout with testicular cancer, and losing. She was concerned about this nut microwaver, but for different reasons.
