Assuage, Opaque, Adulterate

Assuage- to make milder; to make something unpleasant more pleasant

Ex: The painful awkwardness of the date was only assuaged by drinking copious amounts of Tito’s sodas. She was soothed by the knowledge that this would run up a massive bill, which he would surely pay, and the strong buzz from the alcohol suddenly made his discussion of the lore of the Bionicles Lego set not make her want to kill herself.

Opaque- not transparent; unable to be seen through

Ex: Tim was always confused as to why the urinal dividers were opaque in the bathroom of the Berlin sex club. He was about to see every possible shape, size, color, and ethnicity of genitalia on the main floor regardless.

Adulterate- to corrupt or make worse by addition of an outside element or foreign substance

Ex: What would have been a fine sandwich was cruelly adulterated by the unwelcomed inclusion of gefilte fish. Gefilte fish is pretty gross when you know you’re about to eat it, but surprise gefilte fish, now that should land you behind bars.
