Accoutrement- an accessory item of clothing

Ex: The polished brass John Deere belt buckle was the perfect accoutrement to add to his outfit for this year’s tractor pull at the country fair. He wasn’t going to simply be another customer, another ticket number in line at the funnel cake stand. No, this year he was going to make sure they KNEW it was he, Kiefer Lloyd Parsons, who was about to sink his (remaining) wooden teeth into his deep-fried diabetic disk. *Cut to Kiefer in line for funnel cakes at this year’s fair. Stretching infinitely in front of him in line are local rednecks dressed identically to Kiefer, John Deere belt buckles and all. Behind him is also a seemingly never-ending line of hillbilly clones* Kiefer rips his belt from his waist and throws it on the ground dejectedly. He makes a left turn and heads for the tent housing the, “who can grow the largest vegetable?” contest. He hopes the ungodly sight of a variety of massive Rutebagas and squashes in this garden can take his mind off of his garden-variety blue-collar attire.

Ex: Whenever he ate an everything bagel with cream cheese and lox he had bizarre momentary flashbacks to noctilucent middle-aged partygoers flailing their limbs about in an arrhythmic manner to the tune of Cobra Starship’s “Hot Mess” on the Bar Mitzvah dancefloor.
